Our feedback from the Intensive drugs awareness course

On the 8th March we piloted our new training programme, focusing specifically at Neurotransmitter and there adaptations through intoxication.

Specific aims of the training is to assist workers and users to:
  1. Identifying specific neurotransmitters
  2. how they counteract each other.
  3. Identify harm reduction strategies for polydrug users.
The program exceeded even my own expectations. Our evaluations are anonymous to encourage honesty within feedback, with this in mind every participant scored the training as excellent and would recommend it to others. We believe that delivery needs to have an element of fun to be engaging but fundamentally we are firmly committed to developing knowledge, skills and understanding.

These feed comments suggest we are realising this goal:
"I found the activity involving the big night out/drug mapping useful and something I can employ immediately"
"Enjoyed todays session, very useful in terms of doing my job professionally"
"implementing this knowledge into my key working sessions"
From April we will be rolling out biweekly our ITEP and intensive drugs awareness courses, contact me asap to secure a complementary place, or for further information on what we can offer you please visit our website

Thanks for your time.

New training opportunities

We are rolling out two days of training for In-volve staff and Blog subscribers, the provisional dates I have identified are the 8th and 28 - 29th of March. They will be running from our new head offices. The two programmes I have identified are:

Intensive drugs awareness (8th march)
Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify current substance use trends
  2. Identify harm and mortality ratings of each substance category
  3. Identifying specific neurotransmitters
  4. Neurotransmitter adaptations through intoxication
  5. Identify specifically what substances fall into what categories (i.e. stimulants, depressants).
  6. how they counteract each other.
ITEP (International Treatment Effectiveness Project) ( 28 - 29 march)
Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand the practicalities of Node-link mapping.
  2. Enhance client and practitioner communication.
  3. Ensure evidence-based practice - record work for clients, practitioner, manager and commissioners.
  4. Enable clients to work more collaboratively in their treatment process and invite them into the learning process.
  5. Gain flexible tools that work well across all interventions and focus key work sessions (brief/structured/group interventions, either high intensity or low).
  6. Gain visual tools that work well to break down barriers - (Literacy/communication/concentration).
  7. Use motivational interviewing to enhance rapport and remove ambivalence.
